Caring for your medical uniforms
Following these care instructions will help your scrubs stay vibrant, comfortable, and durable through years of wear and wash.
Washing
- Wash in cold water on a gentle cycle.
- Wash with similar colours to prevent dye transfer.
- Turn garments inside out to protect prints, embroidery, and fabric finish.
- Use a mild detergent. Avoid bleach and fabric softeners (they break down performance fabrics).
- For heavy soiling, pre-treat stains before washing rather than increasing wash temperature.
Drying
- Tumble dry on low heat or hang to dry.
- Remove promptly from the dryer to minimise wrinkling.
- High heat can damage stretch fibres and fade colours — always dry on the lowest heat setting your fabric allows.
Ironing
- Most performance scrub fabrics (polyester/spandex blends) don't need ironing.
- If needed, iron on a low setting and avoid direct contact with prints, logos, or embroidery.
- Never iron over zips, snaps, or other hardware.
Stain removal
- Treat stains as soon as possible — the sooner the better.
- Blot, don't rub. Rubbing pushes stains deeper into the fabric.
- For protein-based stains (blood, etc), rinse in cold water first — hot water sets these stains permanently.
- For greasy stains, apply a small amount of mild dish soap before washing.
Storage
- Hang or fold cleaned scrubs in a cool, dry place.
- Avoid hanging in direct sunlight — prolonged UV exposure fades colours.
A note on quality
The healthcare uniforms we stock are made for the demands of clinical work — long shifts, frequent washing, and tough wear. With proper care, they'll keep performing for hundreds of wash cycles.
